The pardons if these fascist stormtrooper should also stand as a clear warning of what is to come. Many many people are in shock over developments and it is only day 3 from his crowning. The cliff notes of what’s in store are laid out in Project 2025. Underestimating this Anerican fascism will end up suffocating resistance. Also, while asking for “mercy” is not what is needed, I think your thrashing of the priest is not right. This took a great deal of courage on her part given this was the i augural’snational prayer service. She is receiving death threats and the wrath of Trump. She should be seen as potentially part of a broad united front and the faith-based opposition will speak in religious terms, tho some will go much further in more of the tradition of liberation theology. How about extending a hand and making friendly comments? In any case, greatly appreciate your commentaries!

"Thrashing" is way too strong. I don't believe in appealing to rulers of any kind, including of course fascists. I know very well that my take on that episode is unpopular. That's okay.

You are an academic in that you have the learned knowledge not present in the general public. Whether you have been in a classroom or not doesn’t invalidate it. (I am being blocked from posting my reply as my profile will not accept update. Something weird going on.). Well, my minor reply finally went through. Just be aware that there may be shenanigans.

McConnell and McCarthy both made damning statements immediately following the insurrection. And yet, with in days they fell in line and blocked the impeachment. McCarthy soon appeared at Mar-A-Largo to kiss the ring. Then Biden stated nothing will change and made not a peep as Manchin and Sinema tanked his agenda inherited from Bernie. Even giving Manchin’s wife a cushy government appointment. Three years passed in silence as Merrick Garland did nothing when those with any awareness were asking “What the hell?” Then came 10/07 and the ensuing and endless genocide. As Paul has repeatedly pointed out the constitution clearly states no one engaging in insurrection may hold a position in government. Where was the pushback throughout Trump’s long campaign to return to power? Nonexistent. Here we are. A failed Republic tainted by class rule and slavery from its inception. Paul is an academic. For many of the rest of us, we are waking up to that which is the late great USA

Thanks but not an academic. Covid marked the end of my teaching days in May of 2020 and that was after less than two years back in a classroom after a 12 year absence.

From someone that can barely stomach the sight or sound of Trump, J6 was no “insurrection.” It was a set-up, beginning to end. And next to the damage the U.S. and the world is likely to endure over the next 4 yrs and beyond, him pardoning its players pales in comparison. Moreover, the coming damage is as much (if not more) the responsibility of Democrats as it is Republicans. The message sent in 24 by Harris and co. couldn’t have been clearer:

“We offer workers and average citizens NOTHING. Either vote for us OR you get Trump.” And the American public (rightly) said “FY!”

Ds and Rs. Good cop/Bad cop. Two sides. Same capitalist coin. All predictable.. And now comes the inevitable suffering.. As someone else said here: Americans have precisely the president and country they deserve..

Mean? Perhaps. Spirited, no. Excessive? Compared to?

Sometimes in the face of danger one needs to slap their neighbors who are frozen in the face of fear, or be eaten by the incoming........fill in the blank. We can sit cross legged, passing the bong back and forth, speaking of the great philosophers of times gone by, and pray to the gods du jour until the 15th generation of wannabe utopian dreamers arrive. It won't change what the people desire until the people's desires are forced. Unless of course their desires truly are for Kings and Queens who Lord over their lives, feeding them entertainment zombism. History is our teacher, its lessons are there to be seen.

The only true progress humans have actually accomplished, since our beginning, is our ability to live longer lives. All else is air-conditioning.

Yet when after it's all said, 77 million folks got him into POTUS. I know from your writings and others revolutions are triggered spontaneously by some event. Do you think we'll see a country wide mass revolt/protest in the next 4 years.

I don't say spontaneous though...

Why are you worried? You’re surrounded by an army of LGBT+ and liberal women who don’t respect you. Surely they’ll defend you from the MAGA-boomers.

I am willing to be corrected, but I can find no evidence of cops being maimed and/or killed in this pathetic right wing riot, despite the claim still being made by pearl-clutching shit-libs. However, an unarmed woman was killed by a cop.. apparently for the crime of being stupid. Street executions by cops should always be condemned regardless of what someone's shit politics are. It's hardly revolutionary to side with the cops who are at least as fascist as Trump, and often more so. Had these rioters been leftists, there would have been a blood bath and many would have been murdered by goose-steppers with badges. These proud boy fucks are frequently enabled by cops at protests against cop violence, and they were obviously allowed to create this clown ass shit show. By the way, in what world is an 18 year or 22 year sentence in federal prison considered lenient? Those were extremely severe sentences. I have no love for these racist pieces of shit, but did they murder anyone? No, they did not.. And no, I don't give a fuck about the capitol or any off its corrupt denizens. It is the seat power for the most dangerous country on earth... death cult America... a country that has used nukes on cities full of people, carpet bombed countries, makes a business out of regime change coups, and funds and arms terrorists like the state of Israel.... to name just a few war crimes.

Now the heads will roll; all who refuse to go along, all who resist, all who conspire against the trashing of rules and laws, will be ferreted out and great violence and murder will take place in our country I fear, I fear acutely for all law abiding Americans in this new rule of the powerful privileged, unworthy and insane criminals and the evil they will do!

Very few have the ability to flee or hide from the consequences or revolt against this "clown" prince's election. Darkness in on the land and in the people who brought this upon us.
