I've been hitting the street as well. Kinda of a protest: I'm helping get 10,000 signatures here in Massachusetts to get Jill Stein on the ticket this November. Will it make a dif here in MA? most probably not but I can dream that someday peace candidates get to make it into the branches of government. In the din of constant war only darkness reigns. In the light of peace maybe more rational policies will emerge

I honestly have no idea what good could possibly come from Jill Stein getting some votes in MA or anywhere else. That to me feels like sheepdogging people into what Avakian rightly calls "the BEB" - the bourgeois electoral bullshit. And not just any BEB...the USA version of the BEB with the insane Electoral College, the ridiculously malapportioned Senate, the absurdly gerrymandered US House and state legislatures, the plutocratic dark money campaign finance free for all, the winner-take-all first past the post marginalization of third and fourth parties, the undemocratically appointed for life judiciary, states' rights, etc. Thay whole political superstructure has to go; it's nuts. I like the slogan I saw on a Revcom t-shirt the other day: "Fascist Trump or Genocide Joe? The Whole Damn System's Got to Go!" I think that rhymes a lot better than "Fascist Trump or Genocide Joe? Help Jill Stein Get 20,000 Votes in my State!" But in any event, MA is solid Biden blue and the state I vote or not in - Iowa -- is solid Trump red.

This review of Hahn’s book which I intend to read sounds extreme. But it is not. I have read lots of history and have been in action on the streets. I agree whole heartedly with what you are saying here. Thanks. And let’s all pass it on.

It's a good and important work despite the author's habit of constructing sentences with incredibly high #s of commas and his lack of interest in the radical neofascist discontinuity that Trump and Trumpism represent. "Same as before" is an occupational hazard in the history profession. So is going too light on recent history/current events. I say this as someone with a doctorate in history.
