Don't paint the folks of Wisconcin with one brush. Lots of good folks to the North of you flatlanders.

But ya there's a few that scare the bejesus out of me for sure.

I certainly didn't mean to tar all Wisconsinites with a fashy brush. Did it seem like I was doing that? I just bought some really good cheddar cheese that was made in Wisconsin.

I agree, it's really scary, though at the off-hand-comment-level more than the smash level so far. Being a cheesehead who emigrated from IL, I've seen way more scary folks in suits and ties on the Metra than the scary WI racist pigs that seem to be found almost anywhere. I'm so ashamed that in my lifetime things really haven't improved that much in that regard. Especially when one of your fundamental premises is that respect is a human right.

When I'm in Iowa City the main fascists I see are pissed off white dudes in pickup trucks glaring at all the racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual diversity of the university town. When I'm in Chicago its the white cops from neighborhoods like Mount Greenwood and Albany Park.

White dudes in pickups- their words can hurt, and the psychos among them kill, like we hear coming from the Great Plains people among others. I'm still really bummed out tonight after hearing earlier today a dear friend's son is now entirely racist, another generation of shame that the good ol' boys out there love to encourage. I wish I shared better news, but today was a rough one for po' folks.

Sorry about the son of the dear friend. White supremacism to me is a critical underpinning of the American system.
