I am very familiar with Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky, they were mentors in my life, and the others that you cited I know well. Throughout my life I have often spent 1-3 years focusing on a particularly study/research. In my 30s, the focus of my attention was Germany and is descent into Nazism, beginning with Shirer. I wanted to know how such a cultured and advanced country could have this. I suppose in the back of my mind was questions about the US. I have also lived in two other countries that had severe and lethal authoritarian governments while I lived there. I will say no more, but you, Mr./Dr. Street are excellent in what you write and say. Thanks so much.

From what I can tell, only two of the works you site came out in the current century. Apparently, such topics are verbotten now. One---so unexpectedly!--- is by Chomsky and Herman!

The few fragments of my brain washed understanding of WWII were destroyed by your reports on the myths about fighting fascism Hard to let go of long held beliefs. Thanks. 🙏

Did you mean Stroessner in Paraguay? I didn't know of a Straussner in Bolivia.

Not quite. I had Barbie mixed up in my mind with Joseph Mengele, who was protected by Paraguay's dictator Alfred Stroessner. Barbie lived in Bolivia during a stretch that included 20 or so years of nationalist military rule.

Thanks for listing sources. Going back another 200 years, the first states were sovereign corporations, granted to them by the people of the states. The leadership then granted the first corporations a small amount of the PEOPLE'S sovereignty that allowed principals in a company to have limited liability for their corporation's outcome. By the Civil War, the states had abdicated even more of the PEOPLE's sovereignty to the corporate beast through land grants, and other crimes. A clerical error at the Supreme Court in the late 1800s gave corporations 'personhood', and which has since become case law. None of this makes any sense to a citizen, unless capital is involved; then it all is clear that for nearly 250 years the intent of the US empire (manifest destiny) has always been fascist, or what ever label it could have been back then. And the US has engaged in war the entire time to secure its ill-gotten lands and material gains. Politically, it has been either the lesser or greater evil- all the way down. It is the set of traditions of capital wealth that must be torn asunder. They made it a class war. Their culture of predation is savagery among civilized people. And they have saturated their hideous religion of greed with the blood of soldiers who sincerely believed they were protecting their homelands and making the world safe for democracy, and which loved ones will eternally concur. Now the empire is weakening, as the economics of empire are self-defeating in its unsustainability. The USA is -literally- a fascist success story, one being copied today by the Zionist zealots and their hanger-ons. Only mutual aid can help us now. Everything else is tangential. Trump has already threatened cities with sanctions if they become sanctuary cities. Hopefully, community aid workers are able to form underground networks and will be ready when the Stephen Miller-level ICE raids return. I'm still harping on a walkout Jan. 21 (and more in '25).
