Yes you be right on with this rant. All other issues pale when contrasted with catastrophic climate change. It makes no sense how the nations of earth aren't address this issue rationally. Tiny incremental steps ain't gonna solve this problem. Bold world leadership needs to occur NOW...or else! As you express so perfectly: its the elephant in the room we call earth. Thanks for your voice along with the many others addressing this issue daily. Why these many voices don't bring about the needed changes needed NOW escapes me. Where are our leaders.

Begging for money from AIPAC and other dark places cause that what they do best. *Money and power trump democracy.

I fund more and more people are becoming concerned. Others one will never convince, but we soldier on. Great article. Thank-you.

The movement to deal with climate change has been a complete failure as you point out due to capitalism and our worship and need for constant economic growth. It is unlikely that anything significant will be done to deal with the problem. The eventual extinction of the human race would be a good thing since it would remove the most destructive creature on earth and would allow the earth and its innocent creatures to rejuvenate. Human Beings are insignificant in the universe and it will function very well without us!

Not bad, we actually agree on much of this. I do think, however, some positive changes can begin under capitalism, though not decisive. Capital, even finance capital, now has a 'green sector' that will promote some positive change simply because they can make money doing so, even, in some cases, combined with municipal ownership. You can see it in the wind farms in Iowa. But I agree, for decisive change, we need the 'new order' of a socialism for our time and place.

Thank you, Paul, for another great analysis. Though the ignored climate disaster may be at the top of the list of existential threats, our current challenges have one common source: our survival systems currently value money over life. For life to survive, this must change. It's that simple. Arguments about this "-ism" or that "-ism" are futile, and attacking separate threats is merely playing "whack-a-mole."

Our guiding star must become life as the ultimate value. Humans must make all future decisions according to this value, which may take a "religious" movement to accomplish. But what sane human could deny the argument that life is more valuable than money? This should become the rallying mantra: "Life over money." Even the marginally prescient can understand this. Simplify.

Thanks again for your inspirational writing.
