Unmentioned in this piece (which references the mass-murderer Biden 4 times, and the mass-murderer Trump 72 (!) times): Third Parties that are antiwar, pro-science, and actually leftist. Jill who? Cornell somebody... can't recall the surname.

And if history is any sort of indicator, once the farce of the General Election is underway, the author will again cave to the Democratic Party, and "reluctantly" conclude that he, and we, must support the war and covid-mass-death criminal Biden in order to keep Orange Mussolini from making the trains run on time, or some such claptrap.

I must have missed the part in your excellent summaries about Presidential power enabling the transference of war weapons to areas of conflict, or intervening in matters not germane to the US that is contrary to the Constitution's mandate of first soliciting Congressional approval. Wouldn't this be an appropriate rebuttal to the hypothetical tea-leaf prophecies, however plausible, of an incipient fascism? On perhaps the grounds that actions speak louder than words?

Not sure I follow this...no tea leaf reading of wolf crying at this point. Trump is openly Hitlerian in his rhetoric at this point. Both of the US major parties are imperialist abroad; just one has made the leap over to neofascist Christian white nationalism in homeland politics.

There are only 2 candidates (or there will likely be after the NH primary) for the "openly Hitlerian" designation that have demonstrated (rather than just implied through rhetoric - ignoring the Constitution may not be fascism but its certainly authoritarian) - one candidate is explicit (not a US candidate though so far he controls many) and the other is either totally inept or a willing enabler. Haley postured as one but isn't likely to continue. Trump may or may not be a third, given his unpredictable, wild card status.

About "homeland politics," I'd judge it a toss-up, in that key policies from prior administrations including separation of families at the border (have National Guard and Texas police come to blows yet over razor wire?) and various promises in 2020 have not been revoked or have even been extended.

That may change if its believed it might influence swing voters, though whether it will or not is debatable. Youth in particular might not be placated by token gestures at the expense of mass murder.

Oh well, I invest no hope in what Bob Avakian rightly calls the "bourgeois electroral bullshit (BEB)" and agree wholeheartedly that Biden is a fascism enabler. The election is likely yes a toss up...probably too early to call but the constitutional system leans well to the right and Genocide Joe is running very poorly 10 months out. What's not a toss up is that this system is rotten to the core. Malignant Orange vs. Gencide Joe: gee thanks, US capitalism-imperialism. Revolution anyone?

If true that NATO has learned nothing and anticipates direct war on Russia, then it will be Revolution - or - nothing (i.e. nothing remaining, at least above ground).

Don't underestimate the power of capitalogenic ecocide to end human life.

Us vs them! Black & white thinking distortions, red vs blue --- we get caught in othering and separation stories. The US Empire is falling! Common people, decent neighbors divided, forced into picking sides by forces of greed, corruption and apathy-- blind to our implicit biases and an encouraged callousness to the value of a diverse planet full of precious interconnected, vibrant life... why do we continue to give our power away to those who have little regard for our existence?

Thanks Paul for sharing your thoughts! Hope the new A.I. filters or global super elite don’t destroy your ability to share your intelligence and insights too soon!

There are limits to "can't we all get along," though, no?

Paul, you are a very kind person if you can say something positive about Jeffrey Goldberg and David Frum. Maybe if I read the article you are referring to I would feel the same way. But I doubt it.

Not sure I was very kind. This is a very critical take on the special issue and I call out Goldberg once or twice. Frum's essay is not dumb.
