Mate you've nailed it and frankly, as an Australian, the choice between which superpower we want as our protector is becoming less and less obvious. Fascist China or Fascist America. The older I get, the more stunned I become at humanity. Not that there are people like Trump we've all been to school and seen the bully; but how many people follow the bully, and can't see through his shit. I guess years of unfettered capitalism served up as being good for society have amounted to this. The worst humans willing to serve corporations whilst being fake populists have risen, with the backing of horrid humans like a Rupert Murdoch, and conditions which don't allow people the time or will to get a proper education. Anyway as depressing as the article is, it's comforting to know there are many Americans who see the truth. Unfortunately for the rest of the world there are too many who don't. Cheers, Brett.

Just an FYI -- You left the 'p' out when you wrote the title of your book, i.e. "and the Truming of America."

Hi Paul, I’m enjoying your writing and definitely see you the way you want to be seen. I had the impression recently that you were looking for feedback, and he’s what’s on my mind:

I think we’d all benefit from more writing about solutions to all these problems. What direct actions can we take? Which ones will do the most good? How can we mobilise people to stop what we can all see coming? I’m completely on board with your messages, but if we’re not doing anything with them, your essays feel like little more than doom porn. It’s just a thought. Thanks for reading.
