It’s terrifying. There are few places to turn for sane analysis of the present moment. I really hope you are able to keep em coming, Paul.
The damage that this fascist wave is causing and could bring in the future if it is not stopped… god damn! The fucking terminal stupidity of these deranged lunatic fascists!!
This fascistic movement is mashing everything they are opposed to together and distilling it into a vaguely defined bogeyman and using it for motivation to promote an extreme fear based, oppositional, individualistic, anti-intellectual and self-serving world view. It ties in with the right-wing authoritarian personality. It's very dangerous because they find solace in these simplistic views and self-righteousness in opposing them. My theory of evil is that it is basically acts of aggression varying in motivation, intensity and harm done. You can see how the conditions they are creating can spawn this. The word barbarism also comes to mind. It's the barbarian horde.
And good on the people that recognize the threat here and are coming out to oppose it. You're not going to find me on the street where I'm at. That would likely be a one man crusade and ridiculousness. I definitely refuse fascism even thought I'm not part of Refuse Fascism.
To clarify what I said above I'm not advocating for using the term evil. It came to mind though considering the potential for a quasi-Nazi nightmare scenario unfolding here. Thinking about what it is that people are describing when they talk about evil and trying to find a explanation for it I saw it as aggression, an action with motivations and not an attribute. And as far as evil actions go I could include what the Nazis did or what the state of Israel is doing. It's subjective, whatever crosses the threshold of being disturbing enough to call it that. Some weaponize it though by using it as an attribute assigned to people they want to dehumanize to justify what could be described as acts of evil. I think these people are most likely projecting their intentions. The biggest sickos are always saying it's someone else(Trump, Netanyahu). Right-wing projection is another topic. I hope my philosophizing isn't too far off topic here. I have to shut it down so I don't keep going on.
There are maybe a couple handfuls of decent Democratic Party representatives remaining in Washington. But now that I have said that, what about the total support for his confirmation? Worse than I thought, too. Or maybe they thought they could do worse than Marco.
Paul, I hope you don’t get too pissed off to read and report on MSM perspectives. I don’t want to start reading it any more than I do currently, and I lack the breadth, knowledge, and discipline to provide any one with words worth reading with any frequency.
Me too on the last point. Definitely a full-time job being an analyst and more challengingly a wordsmith and grammaticist. It takes me some time just to construct a small writing like this.

Just a reminder that Ukraine had neutrality in their constitution until 2014, after Russian aggression.
