Perhaps the “pessimism trumps the optimism of their will”, but nihilism blocks positive change. Dissociation and romanticism go hand in hand. Your characterizations make sense on many levels. Thanks for your social media post. It produced a thoughtful thread. The platform through me out (I’m to slow), so thanks again.

I’m currently recovering from a variant of Covid and besides the unpleasant symptoms I’m more aware of the widespread pessimism due to the pandemicidal nature of the Trump/Pence fascist and Republifascists’ dealings. There’s a lot of dissociation happening resulting in damping off of discussion, isolation in interaction, and mechanization of our behavior in the use of technology.

What did Picasso intend to convey in painting Guernica? The evil intent of the fascists’ bombing in the panic stricken faces of the men, women, children, and animals in the scene. Even the broken rafters and splintered furniture speak to the terror while Picasso draws the viewer to the light in the room so that we can bear witness to the evil.

Some ass hat will always say that “demons” caused the virus. Similarly, some will poison their way out any discussion. On the other hand a real revolution must stand the test of emancipation for all humanity.

I accept that my vote for a 3rd party iss completely meaningless.. I am not voting for who I think will win. With the front 2, nobody wins. At least I will vote my conscience, and not for a candidate that supports genocide - red line. And agree with Paul that revolution is required. It is not a pipe dream. Most people mistake the term revolution to only mean the violent overthrow of the current system. Hopefully you can have a revolution without that. .".an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed. "

Paul, I’m not so critical of all involved in third party or even some Dem election campaigns. Most people I’ve known in close to 70 years haven’t had the time, background, desire, perspective, desire, and/or willingness to seriously consider ideas that they have been heavily propagandized against their entire lives.

Btw, though I’ve read that Gore said he wouldn’t have led the “eider wid us or gainst us” GW Bush militaristic way had he been won office in 2000, I’m highly skeptical.

I've been there..done US electoral politics both third party and inside Dem campaigns. I know it all very well. It's quicksand, siren song, judas goat...death trap. In my opinion/experience/observation.

Silly Paul! He doesn’t understand that greedy capitalists will never allow a disruption of their profit stream! The survival of the race be damned!

Well, that's an argument for radically replacing them and more fundamentally their exterminist system with revolutionary eco-socialism. They aren't Gods!

Always good to hear your encouraging words that the socialist revolution is maybe around the corner. I think that maybe the China way forward may be the missing link to get your/our revolution and outing of capitalism a reality. the chinese gvernment is a blend of capitolism and undder govenmnet control socialism. (that's my take but will gladly like to hear your take Paul) I think China's blending will evolve into pure social/cumune(ism) but first we need to get to a mutlipolor world not dominaated by the USA dollar. Would love to hear your thoughts if you agree or disagree that maybe the advancemnt of China will get us to the revolution state you see coming. If China pulls it off it will be a gradual evoilltion from capitalism to socialism not necessarily a catylitic spontanious revolution. Again your thoughts. Love you Paut love your commentary and yes I'm one of those old fart liberals that stand by the way dside...but if it happens I be on the side of erasure of capitalism.

They build safety nets for Chinese workers who try to leap to their deaths from industrial dormitories. Capitalist nightmare. Gave global capitalism a generation long boost that has tipped humanity to the very edge of environmental collapse. A major imperialist power building to be the next hegemon. Chinese masses need to rise up and overthrow their rulers. Revisit Mao but with full awareness of his mistakes. Look at the Lotta piece I linked. Real answer is massive which I can't do in comments.

And the insane shit they've done to the Uyghurs is beyond belief almost. It's not made up western propaganda. Post-Mao China is incredibly horrific.
