It's not just that your responses are so good. It also your skill in identifying the many and varied arguments made in response to Trump.

It seems the public has stopped paying attention to 1/20/2025, and has instead devoted itself to the comedy of MAGA and Musk in some proverbial 'X' death match.

I swear, nobody truly will believe in the terror of Trump until he shows up at the door.

Do you ever read the English version of Le Monde? I'm hopeless at cut and paste, so I'll just refer to a remarkably pithy (two paragraphs) account of the state of US politics and how it's becoming a democratic fascism.

(From 1/2/2025).

I don't think enough Americans can grasp that when you have elected Trump, you have elected a fascist who wants to make the world his oyster. I don't know which is worse, really, that they don't recognize what his project is, or the do and they are glad to be part of it.

Its thearte of the aburd, except it's reality.

Anyway, Paul, thank you for essay.

Thank you back + you are very welcome. There's more, like 14. "Trump is too stupid and venal to be a real fascist menace" and yes, 15. "The Republicans will implode."

Can someone please tell me, what good are electric cars in reducing pollution? Isn't it just a nimby thing moving pollution elsewhere?

What about better public transport. Or am I just deluded.

" Workers of the world unite you have nothing to lose but your chains.".

Like most genius, Dr. Street won't be appreciated until half a century has passed. Most Americans still have no idea what neoliberal capitalism has done to them

I wish I was a genius! :) i look forward to being appreciated long after I'm dead! :)

Electric cars reduce warming emissions IF the power plants recharging them are NOT burning fossil fuel, but using solar, wind, etc. instead. But you are correct, what is really needed is mass public transport. That is not powered by fossil fuel power plants.

They are not a solution.

This is a great summary and response to pure stupid and dangerous selfishness. These arguments I have heard too, let's just say it for what it is, denialism, sloth, and I don't give a damn for anything or anybody and this is how I opt out of doing the right thing, or doing anything. People who say these things, of course, have little or no idea of what they are walking into and are about to face. Where I live there is during hurricane season constant threats of these frightening storms and seek to do nothing or avoid thinking about them. Then along comes a strong one, like Milton, and everything changes when one suddenly finds themselves in the midst of one.

My main potential cop out is expatriation. Doubt I could pull it off, though.

I tried that, friend. When you (or I) go overseas one gives up one's citizenship. Prepare to be looked down upon.

The Northern CA class action suit against Congress is stupid too, but I'm cheering it on anyway.

Regarding # 10....Will Planned Parenthood and the ACLU lead a mass physical assault on the US Capitol in three days, with thousands of liberals and progressives chanting "Hang Kamala Harris" and roaming through the Capitol saying "Where's Mikey?" while Genocide Joe tweets his disappointment with Harris' failure to suspend the certification of the Orange Assface of Amerikan Fascism as the 47th POTUS?

Great list. It will help me address some of the things I see expressed on social media.

Regarding #12: Do you expect to pull off your revolution without extreme violence occurring? Gambling on the cops finally siding with the People? Will the Oligarchs fold while enlightened colonels and generals stand down the military? What will finally spark the comatose dullards sitting on their couches into action?

Let's try to find out. Staying under the profits regime/capitalism-imperialism is ecological and/or perhaps epidemiological or nuclear suicide.

Capitalism killing 21,300 people per day, cancelling livable ecology, bring world to nuclear war, and spreading fascism world wide are all extreme violence. What do you feel is best way to stop this?

The majority of the country usually doesn't go R or D but picks the hero of the Odyssey, "Nobody."

We need to convince them to pick revolution.

Honest question, Paul. Do you think that the Republicans could have pulled off some election fraud?

Is there a legal reason for referring to your self in the 3rd person? Thanks for your insightful analysis! Our common ruin is not inevitable, just likely IMO.
