You reminded me of some of my jobs in the early 1970s, and also knocking on doors for candidates. You do get a feel for how people think when you knock on doors of working class people, like here in Rockford, Illinois. I shared this to Facebook.
Our office was on State Street, downtown. I've done candidate door-knocking too in Iowa....and yeah you end up having conversations about a lot more than the candidates and electoral politics.
I should have added that the top two IPAC honchos in the Rockford office had never heard of WEB DuBois.
