Within sight and sound of the DNC!” was not just about getting the delegates’ ears, but also about getting the attention of the masses of Americans. If some DNC delegates, Holocaust Harris, or the entire party announce an end to weapons shipments to the IDF as a result of their party leaders’ paymasters’ expectation of election loss if their support for shipments of weaponry continue, all the better.
Yet, the greater point — which you made — is that even if there was peace in Palestine and an end to Zionism and apartheid, all the other problems remain along with the failing issue oriented whac-a-mole played by pleas to the selected and elected in the current system.
Maybe the US could even replace Israel as a base through greater coordination with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, both nations, and/or others in the region.

Just to be clear, the preponderant majority of delegates are imperialists allied with a horrific and monstrous genocide. And of course, unlike 1968 there's no Gene McCarthy vying for nomination as an antiwar candidate. The conventions have changed since the 1960s - they are just coronations of an already selected nominee now. And they are party coronating an imperialist.
