Neo-lib/Democratic wars kill children and other living things just as surely as Neo-con/GOP wars do. When enough people choose to vote their conscience, progress can happen. The path I have taken puts me somewhere between General Strike and Revolution. All the suffering is downstream from greed. It's a profitable lie to say there is not enough to go around. Power is needed to maintain that fiction, especially in full sight of everyone as it has since the early Reagan ('greed is good') years. The elites just don't care anymore. If I had a million bucks I would commission a life-size bronze sculpture of of a guillotine, several actually, place one on the steps of all 12 Federal Reserve banks, one on NYC Wall St. somewhere, and one at the Chi Board of Trade, just for good measure. Not as a threat, but as a warning. This is my second post of this- the first one got eated by cyberspace somewhere. Thanks again for being sane, it can only help.
A million bucks would't get you anywhere near that odd project. What on Earth is voting one's conscience in the US and what does voting have to do with making a revolution? What organization are you with the puts you "somewhehere between General Strike and Revolution"? Instead of "greed," which is one aspect of human emotion and conduct, I would suggest focusing on and against the capitalist mode of production and its political and ideological superstructure - the class rule and imperial system that will literally end life on Earth and must be radically replaced by revolutionary socialism, the movement that ought to be the recipient of your imagined miliion dollars. When did "the elites care" about the common good under capitalism-imperialism? When was that, exactly? "Not as a threat but as a warning" is weird imo....small distinction there. Why the obsession with Fed Board members instead of capitalists themselve and more importantly the capitalism system. Guillotines? Really? You could chop of all the "elite" heads you want but if you don't replace capitalism (what you call "greed") with revolutionary socialism on the path to communism you just get a new batch. Anyway, I suggest rethinking all this.
Paul, that's why I appreciate your gift of articulating meaning. I witness individuals causing the problems, the guillotine warning is for those pigs, and their insidious gatekeepers. The media might even report on a dozen sculptures, thus magnifying the message's reach. BTW, I'm an acknowledged fool, but I like to try.
We all have this fantasy of: how to right this sinking ship called democracy here and abroad. Reich thinks tweeking it from within will work; others rebooting the Constitution; most I think belief "might is right" and you know who owns the guns. _the red and the blue_
