On Village Idiot Fascism Denial

I’ve been down with a nasty cold and therefore not writing, just reading some WWII hisory (an unexpected new hobby), drinking lemon ginger tea, and watching British murder mysteries, but here (below) is a delberately run-on rant that I posted on so-called social media last week and that I rather like. I wrote it after being informed that a local know-it-all Know Nothing “left” friend is even now continuing with the intimately overlapped village idiocies of denying the existence of Amerikner Republi-fascism and downplaying the malignancy and menace of Trump and Trumpism. Here it is….back to the couch now….

Even now, nearly three years after the attempted Capitol Hall Putsch, with Donald "Take Down the Metal Detectors" Trump running around as the runaway GOP nominee and leading hapless Joe Biden (our current King George III) in the battleground states and channeling Hitler by promising Retribution, promising to pardon incarcerated Nazi Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, calling January 6 thugs martyrs, hosting Kyle Rittenhouse, advocating giant immigrant and non-citizen concentration camps, advocating the suspension of the (for him insufficiently authoritarian) constitution, wielding a new army of ambitious fascist policy wonks with giant detailed plans for full Christian white nationalist takeover, referring to socialists and communists as "vermin" who need to be cleaned out of the country (how Hitler is that?), declaring that the real enemy of America is "internal" (Hitler again -- the “stabbed in the back” narrative)....even with all that and plenty more....yes, even with all that and more one can still encounter 50+ white male village idiots so stubbornly dense as to still be channeling It Can't Happen Here and claiming that one is an apologist for a president (Biden) that one has repeatedly skewered (and that one now calls "Genocide Joe") because one has the elementary decency to properly identify Trump and Trumpism and the Trump-captive Republican Party as fascist. These knuckle-dragging nudniks think you need a lecture on how awful the Dems are even though you've been screaming from the rooftops about how awful --- capitalist and imperialist to be more specific --- the Dems are for all of your adult life and even though you now call them the Weimar Dems. And then they tell you that the USA is not not exactly Weimar Germany ...as if you were so F'ng stupid as to say that the 2020s USA was an exact replica of Weimar Germany, as if you don't know you are making an analogy. And then there's the buffoons who tell you fascism isn't a menace here because all of us lefties aren't locked up in political concentration camps yet....who say in essence don't talk about fascism unless you live under fully consolidated fascism. JFC. And then there's the clowns who say it's already fascism, as if we are currently living under consolidated fascism.....there's no specific fascist threat cuz everything is already fascist. Oh, okay. All these folks might as well just become open fascists because they are now quite insidiously aligned with the Amerikaner Project.

Oh and this: while I am no fan of the racist imperialist Winston Chutchill, he did have a way with words and I heartily approve this thing he said to the British masses on BBC as France was falling to the Third Reich in the spring of 1940: "It would be foolish to disguise the gravity of the hour. It would be still more foolish to lose heart and courage." That is much better than the self-cancelling nothingness of that tired old Antonio Gramsci maxim lefties love to trot out: “pessimism of the mind, optimism of the will.”
