Mistake: around 9:04 I say "if Satchel Paige had ever played in the majors," and of course then I point out that Paige played with the Cleveland Indians in 1948.
Looks like in fact neither of the Bobbies --- Hull or Orr - was on the Canadian team in 1972 cuz Hull had gone over the WHL and Orr had a keen injury. More wishful thinking distorting memory. NHL won the series by one game.
Your video provides a good segue for reading this month’s vital “Welcome to the Revolution (the voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party)”! I hope that your subscribers pick up on this publication. Thanks,
Not a football fan. Like you I enjoy watching a good soccer game. But I enjoyed you bringing up your dad the the Michigan/Ohio football revelry. And your memories of days gone by.
I do explain in the previous video that I'm not a football fan cuz of the concussions stuff and overall savage brutality ...but that I can't let go of this one annual game after Thanksgiving. The last World Cup final was the greatest athletic contest I've ever seen.
Being a hockey fan led me to read Black Hawk’s translated autobiography. I’ll never forget the impact of this bit at the end of the intro: “The pathway to glory is rough, and many gloomy hours obscure it. May the Great Spirit shed light on yours, and that you may never experience the humility that the power of the American government has reduced me to, is the wish of him, who, in his native forests, was once as proud and bold as yourself.”
I’m sure Black Hawk was bolder than I ever was or will be.
Some fans believe the team was named after a restaurant.
The way they are performing a good name for all the city's professional sports teams right now would be the Chicago Laughingstocks. I guess Ricketts' team broke .500 last season.

Touché.

I wrote this a while back: https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/07/14/sorry-the-chicago-blackhawks-need-to-change-their-name-and-logo/
Great book by a historian who was at one of those 3rd-4th-tier schools that tends to make it tough for their faculty to write a lot of books: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Hawk-Battle-Heart-America/dp/080508262X
More possible renaming: Chicago Bagmen; Aldermen; Mob.
