This little recording had at least two accidents - missing the chord pattern than was in my brain - that actually worked and enhanced it. I suspect that happens sometimes in the world of real musicians, happening upon something by accident and going "okay let's keep that."

I usually escape into music when the din of these wars overbare me. Unfortunately your Hey Joe just brought current realities to the fore. Joe has to go. The recent massacre of many to rescue 4....horrific. Can it get any worse. Yes: Joe gave his blessing. What a horrible piece of shit he be.

Thank you, Dr. Street. (I am that guy who is still thinking in antiquated Marxist terms from decades ago. Terms such as the "proletariat", the working-class, of which I am a life long member, a four year college degree and a professional degree notwithstanding) and the capital class or "the owners of the means of production." I'm just old fashioned and outmoded. So be it.

Tax the rich, tax the rich, tax the rich. Will the American people ever be educated about a progressive tax system? Do the American people understand that, despite the enormous wealth of the United States, that wealth created by the working-class, there is still a finite quantity of wealth to go around and increasingly that finite wealth is going to the top 1%.

The more workers create wealth now, the less they get in return from the capital class. We are increasingly a society of rentiers and rent extraction.

Americans think, "I'll just work harder" for less and less pay relative to inflation. How many suckers (oops, I mean citizens) have I come across working two, three jobs who feel they just need to work a little harder?

" You have owners; they OWN you..." (the late, great George Carlin).

Is that you playing the piano and singing? If so you are quite talented. If leftists are barred from academia you can always get a side gig. It beats doing what I used to do... cutting lawns with too many acres of manicured grass. But that is, as they say, another story and a sorry one... .

I don't have much of a repetoire or much of a left hand but thanks. Look, my take on Marxism does not at all involve abandoning the terms proletariat, working class, and owners of the means of production. Not at all! Revolutionaries in my view must not sentimentalize, fetishize, reify or tail the holy proletariat (witth its supposed/mythical inetvitable historical mission of becoming the gravediggers of the bourgeoisie) and must never think they can or should trump scientific/objective truth with experiential and standpoint "class truth." But yes of course to proletarian class struggle and taking the means of production out of the hands of the capitalist ruling class! "Tax the rich" to me is a tame and lame slogan: it presupposes the existence of the rich. We need desperately to get humanity past a system that divides humanity between the rich and the rest. And look, let's be clear: you can get all the redistributionist revenge you want on the rich --- the whole "first shall be last and last shall be first" trip --- but if we don't create a system beyond capitalism and heading towardsd communism we'll just re-create the parastic rich (as in post-Soviet Russia and post-Mao China). I know the prole fetish/sentimentalist thing from inside - many years as a labor historian and experience in absurdly romanticized working class jobs :) It's so dumb.

Hi Tom! The differences between the US tax system and the some of the more progressive tax systems in Europe is significant in terms of "sharing the wealth." But we got to look at where the wealth comes from. capitalism imperialism.

The next five months, leading up to election day, 5 November, may well prove to be the most impactful period of any of our lives. As Trump rants and rages his way post-conviction (34 is a number for which he may someday be ostensibly proud) toward a history-making confrontation with an astonishingly confused and demented incumbent who has seemingly taken up the Trump line against all immigrants at the same time he continues previous neo-liberal efforts to blindly bless all that the Zionist/Israeli government does in Gaza, while pushing the world closer to nuclear confrontation by his aggressive actions toward Russia and China. Someone with the President's ear, has decided that such dangerous and wholly unwarranted actions will increase Biden's shrinking support from the voting public. God help us (and this from an atheist).

Thanks. There are of course droves of Hey Joe covers. I don't even remember who wrote and did the first version. I really like the Otis Taylor version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ghxckWVzkI

You know Paul, I still can't get my head around 16000 Palestinians being slaughtered by Israhell and the US, and western politicians with families can go home, look at their kids and not connect the dots.

Colonialism in the19th and 20th centuries were acted out by white supremacists who actively hid their racism behind the mask of civilising "brown and black" people. The offspring of those white supremacists are the western leaders today who bought into the dehumanisation of non-whites, thus are not bothered by the butchery in Gaza because Gazans are non-whites.

I believe once the baby boomers are all gone, their offspring, who are better informed, will not tolerate genocides like the one in Gaza and the West Bank.

The lyric should be:

"You can run,

But you can't hide...."

Or: "You may run,

But you can't hide..."
