After watching most of the legal and social advances made during the second half of the twentieth century being reversed by the worst Supreme Court in U.S. history, at the same time that "liberal" sorts, such as Gavin Newsom, the current governor of California, declares homelessness to be a crime and insists that the state constitution not prohibit slavery as it would cost the state too much in lost profits, and "socialist" Bernie Sanders lauds Biden's performance as President (Gaza/Ukraine/China baiting), I honestly see no hope for our species. If climate change doesn't ultimately do us in, the exchange of nuclear weapons, probably will. The universe will go on, without us...

So I liked this comment cuz I think it's really eloquent and points to key problems in a brilliant way but as you may know I have not given up on the species and revolution and agree with Revcoms and others that there are revolutionary possibilities to be cultivated in this moment when the ruling class is remarkably divided and its old ways of ruling have lost a significant amount of legigitmacy.

I have always thought that Marx and Engels were TOO optimistic regarding human basic morality and concern for the common good. We're basically greedy shits.
