There's nothing like well presented, evidence-based history to get the reactionary fervor of Revolution wisely refocused via the violent lessons of the past so the effort to dismantle the capitalist megamachine and replace it with a eco-socialistic democracy doesn't run off the rails in useless confrontations that only ruling class gendarmes win. Here's a passage from poet Gary Snyder's 1969 broadside Four Changes that eases my mind when reflecting on the urgency of the situation: "Since it doesn't seem practical or even desirable to think that direct bloody force will achieve much, it would be best to consider this a continuing 'revolution of consciousness' which will be won not by guns but by seizing the key images, myths, archetypes, eschatologies, and ecstasies so that life won't seem worth living unless one's on the transforming energy's side."
I seem to recall a fitting tribute to the Haymarket police statue in Oct. '69. Resides indoors these days...... Happy B. Day!
