I can still root for the Cubs, but I will never support Genocide Joy.

Paul, I can comment here if I use subscription email links to your report instead of a search engine to get to PSR.

Regarding your God Bless the USA song “cover”: fine work & though it appears to be from over a year ago I just saw it. Substack presented it in an email to me, maybe because you recently reposted it.

Anyway, I saw that performed (not your cover…yet) at the Grand Old Opry several years ago. It seemed like my wife, sister-in-law, and I were the only audience members not standing, BUT at least our lack of enthusiasm for the song and its message didn’t bring any hostility or negativity from those standing and applauding around us.

I’ve only visited Nashville a few times in my somewhat long and surprisingly getting longer life. I always liked Nashville, or at least my idea of Nashville. Broadway bars with steel guitars, fiddles, so many great instrumentalists & singers.

yeah, Broadway, No cover. You pay up between sets when they pass the hat.

At Northern Illinois University in the 1980s before basketball games at the old Chick Evans Field House you could go sit during the National Anthem with the Black Student Union behind one of the baskets. I'd always go sit over there and feel happy to be with more than 150 people not standing for that sick imperialist slaveowners' song.

At least I now know that if I attend an event with the introductory anthem I can stand and sing the Masters of War lyrics.
