As an outside sds agitator at Columbia in '68 I saw how much most of the faculty valued their privileged existence over supporting the students fighting racism and imperialism. A few coins and tenure were their velvet chains in as Dylan aptly called the old folk's home in the university. C. Wright Mills and a few others were the exception. Marx's theory of false consciousness couldn't have asked for a better representation. Thanks again for your solid contributions to the struggle!

Neil Young’s lyrics, “Tin soldiers and Nixon's comin'

We're finally on our own” from Forgetting Ohio illustrates the deadly contradictions/staring down the barrel of a gun. Capitalist higher education indeed, fueling a retrograde pedagogy. Frighteningly illuminating article on the need for real revolution!

An excellent analysis of the sad state of higher education today. I want to Brooklyn College, public university in NYC, came from a poor background, paid $50 a semester fee plus cost of books in 1960s, and got a BA degree. If I had to do the same today would unlikely have been able to afford college education!
